The Sudbury Five were at home on Sunday afternoon against the Windsor Express looking to avenge a loss to Windsor on the road just two days earlier.

Both teams struggled to find their game on the offensive side of the ball to start the first quarter, with Sudbury holding Windsor to just 17 points in the entire quarter, while scoring just 17 of their own, after the first 12 minutes of play.

Both teams set out to assert their dominance on the defensive side of the ball in the second quarter, and they did just that with Sudbury scoring 18 points in the quarter, to Windsor’s 23. At the half, the Five led the Express by just a single point, 41-40.

Both offenses found their rhythm more in the third quarter, and with contributions from AJ Mosby Jr., who scored an impressive 38 points playing 44 minutes in the game, the Five lead the Express 69-65 in a low scoring affair with one quarter remaining in the game.

Windsor mounted a strong offensive game in the fourth quarter and thanks to a strong 29-point performance in the game from Tyler Groce, and with Chris Jones putting in seven of his own, the Windsor Express left Sudbury with a comeback victory over the Five, by a score of 99-92.

With the loss, the Sudbury Five now hold a record of five wins and four losses and are on a two-game losing streak.

In comments after the game, Sudbury Five player Duane Notice said, “This was a wake up call for us. Dropping two in a row is something we don’t want to do. Especially in front of these fans. Like I said, going forward we’re motivated and we’re going to get better.”

Head Coach Logan Stutz also shared some thoughts on how the game went.

“We missed some big shots down the stretch. Definitely going through it right now. We’ll figure it out.”
