The Sudbury Five were back on the court in Montreal for the second game in as many nights against the Montreal Toundra. AJ Mosby Jr. and company were looking to keep their undefeated streak alive and improve to 4-0 on the season.

Both teams were very evenly matched in this contest and played hard to try to get the win for their respective clubs.

Players such as Jalen Hayes and Mosby Jr. would put up big numbers throughout the game with 29 points and 16 points, respectively, and after the first quarter of play the Sudbury Five held a three-point lead, with a score of 26-23.

The even play continued in the second quarter, and once again both teams traded baskets, namely Antoine Mason for Montreal, who scored 28 points in the game, along with Landon Kirkwood scoring 15 points.

Both teams scored 25 points apiece in the second quarter and went into the dressing room at halftime with the Five maintaining their three-point lead on the road, 51-48.

Coming out of the break, neither team could gain much control in the game, and thanks to solid play from Lance Adams, Evan Harris, and Canadian Duane Notice, Sudbury held a 78-72 lead with one quarter remaining in regulation time.

Levi Londole and Tafari Beckford for the Toundra put up more than their fair share of points on the night and their contributions, along with others, helped Montreal claw their way back to tie the game at 101-101 and send the game into overtime.

Both teams scored 11 points in the first overtime to keep the score tied, 112-112 and force a second overtime, where Montreal would claim victory with a 126-121 win, handing the Sudbury Five their first loss of the season.

Sudbury would score 14 points off turnovers in the game with Montreal scoring nine.

With the loss, the Sudbury Five remain in first place in the Basketball Super League with a record of three wins and one loss.

The Five are back home on Jan. 12 and Jan. 13 with games against the London Lightning and the Pontiac Pharaohs with both games scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
