Foligno nets pair, Wolves win 5-2

The Sudbury Wolves moved into a tie for sixth place in the Eastern Conference Wednesday with a 5-2 win over the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.

Nick Foligno led the charge for the Wolves (27-23-1-4) with two goals while Kevin Baker, Jonathan D'Aversa and Akim Aliu also scored.

The Greyhounds jumped on the Wolves early in the game, taking a 2-1 lead into the first intermission. Foligno tied the game in the second with his 21st goal of the year while goalie Kevin Beech stood on his head to keep the puck out of the Sudbury net.

Beech was the difference as the Wolves were out-shot 28 to 13 after two periods. Sudbury then secured victory with three third period goals. Foligno scored his 22nd of the year with a few minutes left in the third to put the game out of reach.

The shot totals after the game were 39 to 19 in favour of the Greyhounds (22-28-3-3).

The Wolves are now in a sixth place tie with the Belleville Bulls and return home to face the Barrie Colts Friday. Game time is 7:30 pm.
