It's official, Mike Foligno, acknowledged as the greatest player in Sudbury Wolves history, is the new coach and general manager of the Sudbury Wolves.

The Wolves held a press ocnference Saturday morning at 9 am at the South End hotel to introduce Foligno as the new manager and bench boss.

Foligno's son NIck, 16, who was drafted by the Wolves last month, is in Sudbury this weekend with his father to attend the first-ever Wolves summer mini-camp at Countryside Arena.

Foligno, 44, spent the past five seasons as head coach of the Hershey Bears of te American Hockey League.

After the brilliant junior career with the Wolves, Foligno enjoyed a solid 18-year NHL career with Detroit (who drafted him third overall), Buffalo, Toronto and Florida. In just over 1,000 regular season NHL games, Foligno scored 355 goals, 372 assists for 727 points and racked up 2049 penalty minutes.

Details of Foligno's new contract were not available at Northern Life presstime Friday.
