Goyette claims OHL trophy as league points leader

David Goyette led the Pack this season with 117 points that included 40 goals and 77 assists across 68 games, earning him the Eddie Powers Memorial Trophy for leading the OHL in points this past season.

With the 2023-24 season behind them, the Sudbury Wolves turned their eyes to year-end player awards.

The Pack’s season ended April 18 when they fell 5-0 to the North Bay Battalion in the fourth game of the best-of-seven series. North Bay moves onto the Eastern Conference finals.

As for the awards, the second annual presentation of the Jim Pappin Memorial Award, which goes to player who demonstrates high intensity and competitiveness on a daily basis throughout the season.

“This season Nathan Villeneuve was awarded with these honours following his second OHL season,” the team said. “He registered 50 points, 23 goals, 27 assists and a +10.”

The team highlighted several players who had an outstanding 2023-24 season.

Both David Goyette and Quentin Musty notched more than 100 points during the regular season. Eight Pack players scored 20+ goals, while three recorded 40+ goals during the regular season.

“David Goyette led the Pack this season with 117 points that included 40 goals and 77 assists across 68 games,” the team highlighted.

For his work, Goyette earned the OHL’s Eddie Powers Memorial Trophy, which is awarded to the player who scores the most points on the season.

“Not far behind was Quentin Musty with 102 points, 43 goals and 59 assists, and Dalibor Dvorsky with 88 points, 45 goals and 43 assists,” the team pointed out. “Overage defenceman, Andre Anania finshed third in the league and led the team for plus-minus with a plus-49, finishing the season with a career high of 41 points, 10 goals and 31 assists.”
