A + Performer: Today's A+ performer is Chelmsford Valley District Composite School's Cody Trainer. Playing for the boys' hockey team, Trainer got off to a strong start, scoring back-to-back hat tricks in his first two games.

A + Performer: Today's A+ performer is Chelmsford Valley District Composite School's Cody Trainer. Playing for the boys' hockey team, Trainer got off to a strong start, scoring back-to-back hat tricks in his first two games. In those two games, Trainer had six goals and seven points, while Chelmsford went 1-1.

The team played Tuesday night against Confederation, but results were unavailable at press time. Trainer and Chelmsford play St. Benedict Thursday night at Cambrian Arena at 4 pm.

Honour Roll
NOSSA Volleyball: Lively won the senior boys' A Championship this past weekend in Sturgeon Falls by beating Franco-Cite school in the final. Lively now moves onto the OFSAA A championship in Ottawa starting Thursday.

Champlain earned the senior boys' B Championship over the weekend in Wikwemikong by beating host Wasse Abin in the final.

Lockerby won the senior boys' AAA championship by besting St. Charles in the final. Lockerby now moves onto the AAA OFSAA Championship in Toronto on Thursday. They're seeded 19th out of 20 teams.

In AA action, The Lo-Ellen Park senior team won silver, while the Notre-Dame junior boys took silver.

NOSSA Basketball: The Lasalle Lancers won their ninth consecutive AAA Championship in Sault Ste. Marie this past weekend. The Lancers notched two victories over St. Mary's en route to the banner, using a suffocating defence to defeat the Knights in the final 40-25. Top scorers in the championship final were Kristine Lalonde with 16 points and Laura Furchner with 10 points. They go to Brockville on Thursday to try and win gold.

The Notre-Dame junior girls' team won the AA crown in North Bay by downing Chippewa in the final. The senior squad lost in the NOSSA final to St. Basil from Sault Ste. Marie.

The l'Horizon senior team took silver at the A championship, while Marymount also earned silver in the junior division.

Hockey: The Lasalle Lancers boys' hockey team captured the 28th annual Lively Invitational Hockey Tournament over the weekend defeating the Lockerby Vikings 9-4 in the championship game. The Lancers were led by Nick Aaviku who scored five goals and an assist while Matt Golanski chipped in two goals with singles to Josh Graham and Brennan Doyle. For his efforts, Aaviku was named tournament MVP, collecting an amazing 18 points in five games including 12 goals.

Athlete of the Week: (For second week of November)
Jenn Geryk is a Grade 12 student at Marymount Academy and has been a valuable asset to the athletic department since Grade 9. 

She has been heavily involved with both the junior and senior basketball teams and brings speed, skill, and athleticism to the court for every game. Geryk has also had experience coaching the St. John's Jaguars basketball team. 

Presently in her graduating year, Geryk is focusing on her academics and preparation for her studies in the Law and Justice program at Laurentian University.
