A+ Performers of the weekend edition
Marymount hockey stars Chelsey and Alanna Tegel are tearing apart the defence of their opposing teams. Chelsey scored eight goals and 17 points in her first seven games. Alanna recorded nine goals and 12 points in her first seven games. Their offensive outbursts propelled Marymount to a 7-0 start and first place in the standings. Watch for more of these young stars as the season unfolds.

Hockey
The Lasalle Lancers hockey team captured the 34th N.D.A. High School Hockey Tournament in North Bay last weekend defeating the St. Joseph Scollard Hall Bears 7-0 in the championship game.
The Lancers went undefeated in round play improving their overall season record to 15-0 on the season.  Josh Graham was named tournament MVP as he collected a tournament high of 15 points including nine goals.

Barn burner of the week: A big match in girls' Division I hockey takes place on Tuesday, Dec. 11 at the Cambrian Arena. Notre-Dame takes on L'Horizon at 3:30 pm, and it should be full of fireworks. At the start of this week's action, Notre-Dame featured 12 players in the top 20 for scoring, while L'Horizon featured five in this same category.

Postponements
As well as forcing the rescheduling of 12 games and competitions, the snow day on Monday also forced the postponement of two important SDSSAA meetings.  The fall sport post-season meetings, which were slated for Monday, have been moved to Dec. 10 (7 pm, Lasalle). As well, the December Association meeting has been moved to Thursday, Dec. 12 (start time is noon, location TBA).

Athletes of the Week
(For last week in November)
Zorisa Prosser, St Benedict
The Grade 11 student is very involved in athletics at St. Benedict, competing in five sports including flag football, basketball, volleyball, soccer and track.
Prosser is also a co-president of the athletic association and can often be found working the score table at a home basketball game. Her school spirit is contagious, as she doesn't hesitate to paint herself blue to support her Bears.
Jason Schilling, Confederation
Schilling is a Grade 12 student and has been involved with the school's wrestling team since Grade 9. He has received the SDSSAA MVP award for the past four years and is on his way to earning this prestigious award once again this season. At the NOSSA level, Jason has earned a bronze medal for the past four years and hopes to better his standings this year. Jason is also involved in wrestling at the club level. He also became a wrestling coach in Grade 10
He is currently a peer tutor for the outdoor education class and has often taught the entire lesson.

Basketball
The action was fast and furious at Lockerby recently, as the SDSSAA senior girls' basketball All-Star game was contested before a large and enthusiastic crowd. In the most points scored in recent all-star game memory, Team Gordon, led by Marymount's Whitney Faiella with 13 points, held off a late charge from Team Poulin, led by Lasalle's Kristine Lalonde, with a game high of 14 points, leading to a 61-60 win.
