A + Performer of the Day
College Notre-Dame's Joshua Duguay. The crafty forward came alive in a game versus Lively recently, scoring a hat trick and four points to lead the Alouettes to a hard-fought 9-7 victory. This raises Duguay's season totals to five goals and nine points in seven games. His efforts has helped Notre-Dame go 4-2-1 in their first seven games.

Wednesday : Junior and senior boys' basketball heats up tonight as College Notre-Dame hosts St. Benedict. The juniors start at 5 pm. Notre-Dame got off to a 2-0 start thanks to the hot shooting of Eric Lavergne-Girwan, who scored 20 points in one game. St. Benedict juniors are led by Adam Ritchie, who has 26 points in his first two games and helped the team go 2-1. On the senior side, Notre-Dame is led by George Serresse, who ripped up 43 points in his first three games and helped the senior squad go 3-1. The St. Benedict seniors went 1-2 to start the season and feature big scorer Ryan Dockery, who has 40 points in three games.

Girls' Division II volleyball keeps rolling along with two francophone rivals set to battle tonight. The Macdonald Cartier junior and senior squads host their counterparts from Chelmsford with the juniors at 5 pm and the seniors at 6:30 pm.

Thursday: Boys' junior and senior Division II basketball takes centre stage as L'Horizon hosts Champlain. The juniors commence at 5 pm. L'Horizon went 3-0 to start the season and are led by Justin Girard with 58 points in three games. Corey Lachapelle leads the Champlain juniors (0-2) with 32 points in two games. The seniors hoop it up at 6:30 pm. L'Horizon went 3-0 to start the season as well and features big scorer Jordan Jackson with 49 points in those three games. St. Benedict went 1-2 to start the year with Joshua Deppisch leading the way with 22 points in his first two games.

Fans hungry for high school hockey can get their fix with six games on tap. In senior boys' action, Lasalle (5-0 to start the season) takes on Chelmsford (1-6 to start the season) at Cambrian Arena at 4 pm. This game features two of the league's top scorers - Lasalle's Matthew Golanski (16 points in first five games) and Chelmsford's Cody Trainer (14 points in first seven games).

In other boys' action: Espanola takes on Bishop Carter at Capreol Arena at 6 pm and Lo-Ellen and Manitoulin mix it up at Countryside Arena at 3 pm. In girls' action: Macdonald Cartier takes on Bishop Carter at the Centennial Arena at 3:30 pm, Lo-Ellen plays Marymount at McClelland Arena at 3:30 pm and Lively hosts St. Charles at the Walden Arena at 3:30 pm.

Athletes of the Week (For first week of December):
Ian Morse ,17, Lockerby. Sports: Volleyball and Basketball, Grade: 12.

Morse is a middle blocker on the senior boys' team and was having an outstanding season until he was hit hard with injury. On the basketball court Morse is a integral player. He plays point guard, shooting guard and forward. Ian has been one of the captains of the basketball team the last two seasons and is a positive influence on the floor. He was the MVP of the basketball team last season.

Morse also likes teaching younger players about the game and has worked at basketball camps and helped with elementary school teams in the past.  He is interested in coaching in the future and tries to instill his passion for the game in others.

Katie Maziarski , Lo-Ellen Park. Sports: Cross Country Running, Hockey
Maziarski is a Grade 12 student and among the best runners and best female hockey players in the city. She won a city championship in cross-country running and finished 11th at the Northern Ontario Championships this year.

She also competes on the girls' hockey team and has been a big offensive presence on the ice. She scored seven goals and nine points in her first three games.
