Junior, midget and senior runners from across the Sudbury high school district will converge on Laurentian University Wednesday (Oct. 10) at 3 pm, to contest the 2007 SDSSAA city championships.

Vying for aggregate honours will be Lo-Ellen and Lockerby, as the last time another school's name appeared on the grand aggregate trophy was back in 1995 when Lasalle captured the banner. Races get underway at 3 pm.

Here's some key athletes to watch for:

Lo-Ellen's Ross Proudfoot, junior boys. He has the best shot at being Top 10 at OFSAA - coming off two fifth place finishes at OFSAA track last spring.

Lockerby's Chantry Cargill, senior boys. He could be in the hunt for a city championship.

Lo-Ellen's Katie Maziarski, senior girls. She's definitely a top runner in the city and has good shot at making OFSAA.

Winners and qualifiers move onto the NOSSA Championships, which will be held in Sault Ste. Marie at White Pines high school on Oct. 26. Winners and qualifiers from that championship move onto the OFSAA championships. This year's OFSAA championships will be held in Niagara Falls at Fireman's Park on Saturday, Nov. 3.
