The Sudbury Five has partnered with the YMCA to run a weekly 3 on 3 Shooting League for both boys and girls, as a division of the Five Academy.

The eight-week league, sponsored by Panoramic Properties, will begin on Oct. 24 and conclude on Dec. 12.

The Sudbury Five 3 on 3 Shooting League will offer a non-body contact competitive experience. Players will be able to sign up in their own teams of three to take part in all the fun, safe and competitive action.

Teams will compete in a 3 on 3 tournament style league with 30-minute games and playoffs. The league will be led by Sudbury Five head coach Logan Stutz and guest coach Kyle Beers from Sudbury’s Northern Lights Basketball Academy (NLBA).

“I am so excited to start a 3 on 3 Shooting League in Sudbury,” said Sudbury Five general manager and head coach Logan Stutz.

“We are giving the youth a fun and safe environment where they can take part in a competitive atmosphere again every weekend for eight weeks. The players get to build their own team and compete every weekend. Standings will be posted and there will be playoffs to find out who the best shooters are in Sudbury. I can’t wait!"

Guest coach Kyle Beers of the NLBA is also excited about this league to help players improve on their shooting skills and techniques.

“Confidence in your shot is a huge part of being a great shooter,” said Beers. “Building that confidence takes hours of detailed practice. Great shooters aren’t made overnight. It’s a long process to perfect the art of shooting. The confidence comes from consistently seeing the ball go in again and again over many hours of practice and this league will allow players to do exactly that."

The Sudbury Five 3 on 3 Shooting League will consist of five, one-hour sessions, with eight team spots available in each session.

Session one for U10 will take place from 9 a.m. - 10 a.m., session two for U12 will run 10 a.m. - 11 a.m., session three for U14 will run 11 a.m. - 12 p.m., session four for U16 will run 12 p.m. - 1 p.m. and the final session for U18 will take place from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m.

Participants are encouraged to register in teams with people from their bubble. There is limited space available and the Sudbury Five and the YMCA will be following all public health regulations including increased sanitization, temperature checks and screenings.

The cost to register a 3-player team is $375 + HST.
