During a late October weekend, the Copper Cliff Reds U13AA and the visiting Soo Jr Greyhounds U13AA hockey teams held a food drive in support of the Sudbury Food Bank.

The effort generated 641 lbs of food for the Sudbury Food Bank, a food value of $2,054, the Reds told Sudbury.com.

The food-raiser was held during three regular season games, Oct. 28-29 in Greater Sudbury.

“Food was collected and donated by both teams at the first game primarily and we were able to fill the back of a mid-size SUV, which was delivered to the Sudbury Food Bank,” Sandra Bertoli, one of the organizers of the event told Sudbury.com.

While the three-game series was a win for the food bank, the three-game series didn’t go the way the Reds wanted. After tying the first game 2-2, the Jr. Greyhounds won the next two games (10-3 and 4-3).
