With the last two regular season home games this weekend, the Lady Vees need to play hard to have any hope of earning first place.

The Lady Vees host Ryerson University on Saturday and Guelph University on Sunday. Both games are at the Laurentian field and start at 1 pm.

"It's a very critical weekend if we have any aspirations of finishing first," said head coach Rob Gallo. "We need to win both games and get six points to keep pace."

The Lady Vees currently sit in third spot in the North Division with a record of 1-1-3.

Injuries to key players have put a strain on the squad.

"We have put a lot of demands on players who are playing out of their normal positions due to injuries," said Gallo. "We have been rotating players off and on the field to give them breaks due to injuries and this has hurt the flow of the game."

The team needs goals, and is counting on youngsters to come up big.

"We need to score more goals and this weight will be put on two rookies, Krista Pantin and Jenna Roach," said Gallo

Like last year, the Lady Vees soccer squad resonated with hard line defence.

"Our defence has proven again to be strong with our back four of Samantha Falcioni, Sarah Little, Melynda Roach and Erica Duczeminski," said Gallo.
