Parents and children searching for something different to do this Halloween are invited to participate in the Laurentian Nordic Ski Club’s inaugural “Trick or Trek” event.
On Oct. 30, the Laurentian Nordic Ski Trails at Laurentian University will be transformed for haunted treks through the forest.
“Our athletes train hard on a year-round basis, so they can compete at both the provincial and national levels,” coach Dean Waddell said. “This unique fundraising event will support the athletes by off-setting a number of team-related expenses throughout the upcoming season. In addition, it’ll be great fun for everyone, and get the whole community involved.”
The “Not-So-Spooky” one-kilometre walk/run for younger participants starts at 6 p.m. while the “Spooky” two-kilometre walk/fun for older participants is set to begin at 7 p.m.
Participants in the Trick or Trek event can pre-register at The Outside Store, or between 4:30 and 6 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Laurentian Community Track. Cost is $15/child or student, and $10 for each additional child from the same family.
It is recommended that children under 10 years old be accompanied by an adult (there is no cost for parents), and that all participants bring a flashlight and wear appropriate footwear. All participants will receive a glow stick, loot bag and medal. Costumes are welcome.
