They will be raising funds through the "Great Eggscapade Scramble" First Annual Car Rally in Sudbury on Sept. 27.

Teams will drive around Sudbury collecting donations toward a team goal of $500 or $1,000. They will drive their vehicles to designated "pit stops" where they will participate in a variety of activities, from three-legged races to games of skill. Teams will be eligible for prizes ranging in value from $150 to $500. All competitors will be vying for the coveted Egg Trophy.

Prizes will be awarded based on dollars raised, team spirit and demonstrated skill and cunning at the pit stops.

The goal of the event is to raise awareness of mental health illness and addiction in Sudbury and to raise funds for the Northeastern Mental Health Centre Network North Foundation (NEMHCNNF).

Bebhinn Albiani, chairperson of NEMHCNNF, knows this is an extremely important cause.

"We never really know when someone you know or yourself might need the help of the NEMHC," said Albiani. "Mental illness, wellness and addictions are a big part of our everyday lives."

Savage was more than willing to help out the important cause.

"I know a lot of people who suffer from mental health problems," said Savage. "This is a tremendous way to help people in need and it will help take care of a few bills that have to be paid."

Registration begins at 9 am at the Delki Dozzi Community Centre. The rally begins at 10 am. Lunch will be available at all pit stops. The event ends at around 5 pm.
