Local swimmers do well

The Sudbury Laurentian Swim Club (SLSC) finished eighth overall at the 2005 Swim Ontario Division Two Team Championships Meet, which was held this past weekend at the Laurentian University Pool.

The Sudbury Laurentian Swim Club (SLSC) finished eighth overall at the 2005 Swim Ontario Division Two Team Championships Meet, which was held this past weekend at the Laurentian University Pool.

A total of 585 swimmers from 20 teams across Ontario competed for medals.

The Mississauga Swim Club took first place overall. SLSC members had numerous solid finishes.

Stephanie Kuhn was the big winner for the local squad as she won four gold medals in the 100-metre butterfly, 400m individual medley, 200m freestyle,
and 100m freestyle, as well as a silver in the 400m freestyle.

James Clendenning won a gold in the 100m butterfly, and silver medals in the 400m freestyle, 200m freestyle, 200m butterfly and 200m individual medley.

Anna Clendenning won a silver in the 200m freestyle.

Kyleigh Commito won silver medals in the 400m freestyle, 200m freestyle, 100m freestyle and 800m freestyle.

Michael Commito won a silver in the 100m butterfly.

Leah Derro took bronze in the 200m individual medley and a silver in the 100m butterfly.

Hayden Kosmerly won three bronze medals in the 100m butterfly, the 100m freestyle and the 200m individual medley, as well as a silver in the 100m breaststroke.

Buddy Green grabbed a silver in the 200m butterfly.
