The Laurentian University Karate Club will host the 15th Inter-University Karate Tournament this Saturday, March 16. This event is part of the club's quest to bring high-calibre karate to Greater Sudbury.

Karate students, coaches, officials and supporters from all over Canada will be on campus to take part in the competition.

The karate club has been active for more than seven years and has exposed the Laurentian community to traditional Goju Ryu Karatedo and self defence.

The club currently has about 20 members and has provided training to countless students in the past.

In its short history, the club has competed successfully in many tournaments and produced provincial and inter-university champions. It has sent representatives to Japan and one competitor to three world championships.

The tournament begins Saturday at 1 pm in the Ben Avery Gymnasium. Admission is $2 for adults, 1$ for students, and a maximum of $5 for a family. Admission may also consist of a donation of a non-perishable food item to the LU Student Food Bank. More information is available at www.karate.laurentian.ca.
