The Northern Chill 15U girls volleyball team traveled to Kitchener at Huron Heights Secondary School this past weekend to secure their placement in the upcoming Ontario Championships.

Of the approximately 74 teams competing in the Burgarski Cup, the Chill wanted to maintain their seeding in the top 12 teams in the province.

Many of the girls were on teams participating at the various N.O.S.S.A events being held all over Northern Ontario last weekend. Four of the team were not able to travel to Kitchener.

The Chill had eight players for the competition. Jaymie Adams, Sydney Boivin, Nicole Collard, Leeza Connor, Gabby Conrad, Sarah Fowler, Eili Kleppe, Serena Linley were on the roster for the Burgarski Cup.

First up, the host team Kitchener Waterloo Predators Purple narrowly beat the Chill in the first (23-25) and coming on strong in the second to win (17-25).

After a great pep talk with Mr. Thomson, the girls waited to meet the Ottawa Maverick Ambush who are ranked second in Ontario.

Once more the Chill were so close to taking the first match but succumbing to  the Mav's (23-25) and (15-25). This team was great to play for experience as they will likely meet again in the provincials.

During the third match, the Chill was pitted against the Scarborough Titans. With nothing to be disappointed about, the Chill girls were trying out a number of plays that they were training for in practice.

The goal for that day was to participate for placing at provincials.

The last match of the day was against the Halton Hurricanes, which the Chill started slowly with and then turned up the energy, but not in time to overtake the Hurricanes in the first (23-25).

The Chill battled back to convincingly capture the next game (25-16). The Chill would have no more losses when as the Hurricane could not hold back the Chill who pounded it to them winning (15-7).

Northern Chill 15U girls accomplished their goal of being the club's first premier division team, and now they are ranked top 10 in Ontario with a seeding for provincials of ninth place.
