A pair of lopsided victories did little to prepare the Sudbury Peewee Rockhounds for the final of the Town of New Tecumseth Renegades Lacrosse Tournament, but that wasn't going to stop them.
Racking up back-to-back wins with ease, the Rockhounds tightened up, when needed, in the championship affair, backstopped by a 39-save effort from Cloé Douillette and edging the Oshawa Blue Knights 2-1.
Max Dumais and Max McCue handled the scoring, with McCue earning tournament MVP honours, netting no less than 10 goals in just three games. The locals opened with a 9-0 win over the host Renegades, with McCue scoring four times and Sebastien Chartrand adding a pair.
Cameron Walker, Connor Coutu and Zak Thompson rounded out the scoring for the winners. No slowing down in Game 2 as McCue (5), Aidan Teeter (3) and Ty Parsons (2) helped power the Rockhounds to a 14-1 win over the Orillia Kings (No. 2).
Jared Eadie Chartrand, Parker Farstad, Nolan Peltier Restoule and Walker chipped in with one goal apiece.
