Laurentian Athletics is proud to announce that all-Canadian
Cassandra Carpenter has been invited to the Be One All-Canadian
Weekend hosted by Canada Basketball from May 12 to-14 in
Hamilton.
Carpenter will join other all-Canadian and major award
winners from Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) and the
Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) for the three-day
event. The Coach of the Year winners from the CIS and CCAA will
coach the event.
"I feel very fortunate to be given the opportunity to play with and compete against some of the best basketball players in the country," said the OUA single season scoring record holder in a news release.
"This will be a great experience to further develop my skill
and see where I am in respect to the other elite players in
Canada."
Carpenter can't wait to test her mettle against the best
players.
"Competing against the best in the country pushes you to
play at an elite level and allows one to see which aspects of
their game still needs developing," said the two-time
all-Canadian.  "Gaining feedback from elite coaches will
be very beneficial in improving my skill even further and
hopefully enable me to get one step closer to my long-term goal
of representing Canada at the Olympics."
The weekend will include classroom sessions, including
national team introductions and a "playing professional
basketball" workshop.  The coaches will then put the
participants through their paces on Saturday with the weekend
culminating on Sunday with the East/West all-star game.
The purpose of the Be One All-Canadian Weekend is to promote the CIS/CCAA and to celebrate the accomplishments of the top Canadian College and University athletes and coaches.  Canada Basketball also hopes to build a link between the national program and the CCAA/CIS.
