Pond Hockey Festival back this weekend, but not on Ramsey

Organizers were hoping to make use of the Robinson outdoor rink, but warm temperatures also changed this plan

The Pond Hockey Festival on the Rock is set to take place Feb. 2-3.

This annual event brings together hockey enthusiasts from all over for a weekend of fun and competition on the ice.

The festival will feature tournaments for multiple divisions, food and beverage vendors, and a variety of other entertainment options.

Due to factors beyond organizers’ control, the event will not be able to return to Ramsey Lake this winter.

Also, “with the mild weather we sadly lost access to our planned main site at Robinson playground for the weekend,” organizers said on the event’s Facebook page Feb. 1.

“But, we were able to pivot and secure some ice for you all to offer a full schedule as planned.

“Games now set to go at Algonquin, Delki Dozzi, Northern Hockey Academy, Countryside Arena and the Sudbury Arena.

“Huge thanks for the volunteers at the outdoor rinks who will be working hard tonight and into the morning to ensure this festival is possible.”
