The Sudbury Five have announced Raymar Morgan has signed with the basketball club.

"Raymar is an exciting first-class player which we are super excited to add to the roster,” said  Sudbury Five general manager and head coach Logan Stutz, in a press release.

“When a player like Raymar Morgan wants to play basketball and he tells you he has more in the tank, you find a way to get him on your team. His career speaks for itself from his time at Michigan State to the Eurocup and Euroleague. Raymar will bring a huge presence on the court and in the locker room for the Five."

The 6-8 tall power forward from Canton, Ohio is no stranger to the basketball world. Morgan is a former professional basketball player who had a notable career primarily in Europe.

He played college basketball for Michigan State University from 2006 to 2010, where he was known for his versatility and scoring ability averaging 11.83 points per game, 5.72 rebounds and  1.37 assists in 135 career games and earned All-big Ten honours in 2008 and 2010.

After college, Morgan played briefly in the G League before embarking on a successful career overseas. He played for various teams in the European leagues, including stints in Italy, Israel, Russia and Turkey.

Morgan's career was marked by solid performances which led him to Bundesliga MVP in  Germany in 2017 and multiple all-star awards.

Fans will have their first chance to see Morgan in action as early as Thursday, Feb. 15, when the Five host the Express at 7 p.m.
