SportLink, Greater Sudbury’s sports council, hosts its annual general meeting May 29 at Minnow Lake Place (1127 Bancroft Drive).

The meeting starts at 7 p.m.

SportLink has been actively involved in several Sudbury Sport Tourism ventures recently, including the Nickel City Curling Championships. SportLink has also been busy with the partnership that is Active Sudbury, working alongside representatives of Public Health Sudbury & Districts, Laurentian University, Cambrian College, Collège Boréal and the City of Greater Sudbury, as well as with Indigenous Sport & Wellness Ontario on a small handful of local projects.

Finally, the SportLink mandate of providing support in the areas of promotion and marketing, accessing government funding, volunteer attraction and promotion, and various other endeavours, is sure to rank the next few years as among the most active in the history of the council.

“With that in mind, we are hoping to attract another four to five new board members to join SportLink in moving forward our mandate, and sport, in general, locally,” the group said in a news release. “Meetings are held on a monthly basis, with a relatively limited demand on the time of the volunteers between meetings.

“What we need are energetic, positive and creative individuals, ideally who have been involved in amateur sports in various capacities over the years, and are interested in seeing Sudbury thrive in the years to come.”
