The Sudbury Five have unveiled two more signings ahead of their Dec. 28 home opener against the London Lightning.
The team announced recently that it has re-signed Haroun Mohamed for the upcoming 2023-24 Basketball Super League (BSL) season.
A Laurentian grad with a master’s degree in human kinetics, Mohamed played four seasons for the Voyageurs before playing 16 games with the Five during the 2021-22 season, averaging 15.4 points a game.
"Haroun has been great since joining the Five. He has helped out in many areas on and off the court.” said Five Head Coach and General Manager Logan Stutz. “He has really immersed himself in the Sudbury community, which is a very important part of our organization."
The Five also announced the signing of a new player, 6-4 small forward Keljin Blevins. The Hot Springs, Arkansas native, played a couple seasons with the NBA’s Portland Trailblazers as an undrafted free agent.
A graduate of Montana State University, as a senior, he averaged 11.8 points per game (PPG) and a team-high 5.9 rebounds per game (RPG) for the Bobcats.
“After a stint with the Motor City Cruise of the G League during the 2019/20 season, Blevins earned a spot with the Trailblazers, averaging 3.1 PPG and 1.5 RPG off the bench for Portland in 2021/22,” the team said in a release.
"Keljin is a huge piece for the Five," said Stutz. "He's played at the highest level in the NBA and will bring a lot to the table. I can't wait to get him to Sudbury.”
Fans can look forward to the season's home opener on Dec. 28 against the London Lightning.
