Greater Sudbury's Tessa Bonhomme has firmly entrenched herself into the women's hockey record books at Ohio State University.

In a recent 3-2 win over Bemidji State University, Bonhomme, 22, recorded a goal and two points to set a new Ohio State record for points in a season by a defenceman with 41.

The team captain has 14 goals and 27 assists this year in 32 games to surpass the former record of 40 set by Kelli Halcisak in the 2000-01 season.

With 124 career points, Bonhomme is also now tied for second all-time in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) defenseman career scoring, matching former Wisconsin University Badger Kerry Weiland's total from 1999 to 2003.

The Ohio State women's hockey team finished with a 16-15-3 overall record and locked up fifth place in the WCHA.

Bonhomme is also a member of Canada's National Women's Team.
