Sudbury offence flat in loss to Kitchener-Waterloo

Five loses 100-81 on road against Titans

Sudbury Five star AJ Mosby scored 19 points in the club's losing efforts against the KW Titans on Feb. 29.

The Sudbury Five were on the road in Kitchener on Thursday night to take on the KW Titans. 

The game was a low-scoring affair from the outset, and with contributions from Curtis Hollis with 19 points in the game and Jaquan Lightfoot with 12 points in the game, the Titans held a 21-17 lead after the first quarter of play. 

Kitchener-Waterloo dominated the second quarter by scoring 33 points while holding the Five to just 16, thanks to Dexter Williams Jr., who had 14 points in the game and Demetrius Barnes, who scored 12 points in the game. Heading into halftime, the Five found themselves trailing by a score of 54-33. 

The Five slowly began to chip away at the lead in the third quarter and scored 24 points, including contributions from all-star A.J. Mosby Jr., with 19 points in the game, and fellow all-star Landon Kirkwood, with 14 points in the contest. After the third quarter, the Five trailed the Titans 71-57. 

The Five scored 24 more points in the fourth and final quarter, but found themselves on the wrong end of a final score of 100-81.

With the loss, the Sudbury Five fall to 11 wins and seven losses on the season. 

The Five continue their road trip on March 5 in London against the Lightning with a scheduled start time of 7 p.m.
