Alicia Kaye of Greater Sudbury got off to a
resounding start in the 2005 triathlon season with a convincing
win recently at the Rainbow Cup International Triathlon in
Grafton Beach, Tobago in the West Indies.
Kaye, a fourth-year Laurentian University
student, ran the Olympic Distance Triathlon in two hours, 39
minutes and four seconds.
Kaye ran the race under hot weather
conditions that usually topped 40 degrees Celsius.
Â"I am thrilled with this result,Â" said Kaye
in a news release. Â"I have been training very hard for this
season and this is the kind of start I have been planning
for.Â"
Kaye hopes to represent Canada at the 2008
Olympic Summer games in Beijing, China.
