Sudbury runner goes the distance

Alicia Kaye of Greater Sudbury got off to a resounding start in the 2005 triathlon season with a convincing win recently at the Rainbow Cup International Triathlon in Grafton Beach, Tobago in the West Indies.

Alicia Kaye of Greater Sudbury got off to a resounding start in the 2005 triathlon season with a convincing win recently at the Rainbow Cup International Triathlon in Grafton Beach, Tobago in the West Indies.

Kaye, a fourth-year Laurentian University student, ran the Olympic Distance Triathlon in two hours, 39 minutes and four seconds.

Kaye ran the race under hot weather conditions that usually topped 40 degrees Celsius.

Â"I am thrilled with this result,Â" said Kaye in a news release. Â"I have been training very hard for this season and this is the kind of start I have been planning for.Â"

Kaye hopes to represent Canada at the 2008 Olympic Summer games in Beijing, China.
