These are the Nouvelon volleyball league champions

École Notre-Dame (Hanmer) won the girls’ division B Nouvelon's Intermediate Volleyball League tournament.

Conseil scolaire catholique is celebrating a successful season for its elementary school volleyball players.

An estimated 372 students in Grade 7 and 8, including 17 girls' teams and 14 boys' teams, took part in the Nouvelon Intermediate Volleyball League circuit.

Between October 2 and November 30, 126 games were played in the regular season, while the playoffs included 42. 

Among the 13 French-language schools playing in the CSC Nouvelon Volleyball League were nine from Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon and four from Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord.

The school board also hosted a Grade 5 and 6 volleyball tournament at École secondaire catholique Champlain Dec. 12 and 13.

The tournament intended to offer students a friendly competitive experience, encourage the development of sports skills and promote student participation. 

Teams from the following schools took part in this friendly tournament: Ste-Marie (Azilda), Alliance St-Joseph (Chelmsford); St-Étienne (Dowling), La Renaissance (Espanola), St-Augustin (Garson), Notre-Dame (Hanmer), St-Paul (Lively), St-Antoine (Noëlville), Félix-Ricard (Sudbury), St-Denis (Sudbury), St-Dominique (Sudbury), St-Joseph (Sudbury), St-Pierre (Sudbury), Jean-Paul II (Val Caron) and Ste-Thérèse (Val Thérèse).

Girls Division A

  • Gold: École Ste-Marie (Azilda)
  • Silver: École Jean-Paul II A (Val Caron)           
  • Bronze: École St-Paul A (Lively) 

Girls Division B

  • Gold: École Notre-Dame A (Hanmer)
  • Silver: École catholique Félix-Ricard A (Sudbury)
  • Bronze: École St-Denis (Sudbury) 

Girls Division C

  • Gold: École Alliance St-Joseph (Chelmsford)
  • Silver: École catholique Félix-Ricard B (Sudbury)
  • Bronze: École publique de la Découverte (Val Caron)

Boys Division A

  • Gold: École Macdonald-Cartier (Sudbury)
  • Silver: École St-Paul A (Lively)
  • Bronze: École Ste-Marie (Azilda)

Boys Division B

  • Gold: École Alliance St-Joseph (Chelmsford)
  • Silver: École secondaire Hanmer A
