Three new Wolves sign on the dotted line

Pilon twins and Dawson Baker sign player agreements

The Sudbury Wolves got commitment from twins Darian and Drake Pilon, as well as Dawson Baker, who all signed their standard player agreements.

“We are extremely excited to announce the signings of Darian and Drake,” said Sudbury Wolves General Manager Barclay Branch.

“They are high character players that possess a unique blend of skill, grit, and determination and their hard working approach will be a welcome addition to our line-up.”

The Sault Ste. Marie natives were picked up by the Wolves on waivers last summer, but returned to the Soo Thunderbirds for the 2015-16 season, where both Darian and Drake had stand-out seasons for the Thunderbirds and helped contribute to their NOJHL championship and a spot at the Dudley Hewitt Cup.

“It’s incredible to be able to play hockey for such an amazing organization with such a rich past of great hockey players,” said Darian

“Accomplishing this together makes it that much better. We have a strong relationship, a very competitive relationship. We are extremely happy that all of our hard work is paying off and look forward to the challenges ahead,” added Drake.

The Wolves also received commitment from their fourth round selection in the 2016 OHL Priority Selection, as 16-year-old Dawson Baker put pen to paper.

“He (Baker) is a special young player whose defining characteristics are his skill, work ethic, and character, and we are thrilled that he will be providing these elements to our hockey club for years to come,” said Branch.

The Baltimore, Ontario native played 34 games for the Quinte Red Devils Minor Midgets last season where he scored 17 goals and added 20 assists.

“I am very proud to be committed to the Sudbury Wolves Organization,” said Baker. “I am looking forward to playing with the Wolves and being a part of a new era.”

All three players will be on the ice this afternoon as the Wolves host the North Bay Battalion at the Sudbury Arena in pre-season play.

Game time is 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 for all ages and are available at the Sudbury Arena Box Office or online at greatersudbury.ca/tickets.
