Sudbury Wolves Dalibor Dvorsky continued his point streak when the Wolves took on the Oshawa Generals on Nov. 26. Dvorsky has earned a point in each of the past 14 games, which incidentally are the same number of games he's played in a Wolves jersey.

The Sudbury Wolves were back on the ice on the road in Oshawa against the Oshawa Generals. The Pack was flying high off a dominating 9-2 victory over the London Knights just two nights prior.

Jacob Oster got the nod in goal for Oshawa while Nate Krawchuk was in goal for the visiting Sudbury Wolves.

Exactly one minute into the contest, Luke Torrance scored his sixth goal of the season to give the Generals an early 1-0 lead. The goal also triggered fans to rain down stuffed animals on the ice surface as part of the Generals annual Teddy Bear Toss game night.

The first period proved to be a tight checking and a very physical affair, but both goalies stood tall in the net and after the first period of play the Oshawa Generals held onto that 1-0 lead, while both teams were deadlocked in the shots on goal department with 11 shots apiece.

Right out of the gate to start the second period, Dalibor Dvorsky, in just his 14th game with the Wolves, scored his 10th goal of the season to tie the game up, 1-1. Dvorsky now has at least one point in every game he has played since joining Sudbury.

Six minutes later, San Jose Sharks draft pick Quentin Musty scored his ninth of the season to put the Wolves on top by a score of 2-1.

The Wolves’ hometown boy, Alex Pharand, was able to find the back of the net for the fourth time this season at the 11:02 mark of the second period to increase the Wolves’ lead to 3-1.

Just under two minutes later, Torrance scored his second goal of the game for Oshawa and his seventh of the season to pull the Generals within one. The middle frame would end with a score of 3-2.

About 5:15 into the third period, Wolves defender Djibril Toure scored his fourth of the season to restore the two-goal lead for Sudbury, who now led 4-2 with a little less than 15 minutes to go.

Less than five minutes later, Musty scored his second of the game for Sudbury and 10th of the season to increase the Wolves lead to 5-2. Musty’s 10th of the season ties him with teammate Dalibor Dvorsky for the team lead in goals scored.

With 5:32 remaining in the period, Stuart Rolofs scored his sixth of the season to inch the Generals closer, making the score 5-3 for Sudbury.

Oshawa proved they wouldn’t go down without a fight as Calum Ritchie scored just over a minute later, his third of the season, to decrease Sudbury’s lead to 5-4.

With two minutes remaining in the third, Nathan Villeneuve put the puck in the back of the net for the fifth time this season to give Sudbury a 6-4 lead.

Oshawa would get it back 38 seconds later, however, after Dylan Roobroeck scored his sixth of the season for Oshawa to make the score 6-5 for Sudbury.

David Goyette would seal the deal on an empty net, scoring his ninth of the season with 13 seconds remaining in the game to give the Wolves a 7-5 victory on the road.

The Wolves continue to struggle on the power play, going zero for four in the game while Oshawa was stronger, capitalizing on three of their four power plays.

With the win, the Sudbury Wolves now hold a record of 11 wins, 9 losses, and one overtime loss.

The Generals Luke Torrance was named the game’s third star, while Wolves Captain David Goyette and David Musty received second and first star honours, respectively.

The Wolves next game is a rare Monday night affair, set for Nov. 27, in Peterborough against the defending Ontario Hockey League champions the Peterborough Petes, with a scheduled start time of 7:05 p.m.
