Spring has sprung and that means it’s time for summer gridiron action with the Sudbury Spartans.

The U16 Sudbury Spartans open their 2023 regular season campaign this Saturday, May 20, against the Etobicoke Eagles. Kick-off is 4 p.m. at the James Jerome Sports Complex on Centennial Drive, across from Science North.

The U16 Spartans are coming off a stellar season that saw them go undefeated through the regular season to win the 2022 U16 Ruckstuhl Cup as provincial champions. It was the youth team’s first title since the program began three years ago.

“The standard has been set for Sudbury Spartans football moving forward,” said U16 Head Coach Jordan Desilets. “It is now time to put our hard hats back on, grab our lunch pails and embrace the target because, nobody cares, work harder.”

Tickets are available at the gate for $10. Kids 12 and under are free.

Meanwhile, the U18 Spartans open their season on the road, also on Saturday, squaring up against the Clarington Knights. The U18 squad then returns home to take on the Sault Sabercats on May 27.

The Spartans Men’s team will  kick off their season on June 3 at home against the Tri City Outlaws.

Technica Mining and Anmar Mechanical are proud to be the Sudbury Spartans title sponsors this season.
