Sudbury Wolves winger Kieron Walton picked up a goal in the club’s 5-3 loss to the Peterborough Petes on Nov. 27.

The Sudbury Wolves were back on the ice Nov. 27 for a rare Monday night game in Peterborough.

With Jakub Vondras ailing, the Wolves once again went with Nate Krawchuk in goal while Zach Bowen got the nod in net for the Petes.

Peterborough wasted very little time in getting on the board in this one, as Jax Dubois scored his seventh goal of the season just 23 seconds into the game to give the Petes an early 1-0 lead.

Just over three minutes later, Peterborough struck again to increase their lead to 2-0 thanks to Chase Lefebvre scoring his third goal of the season.

Less than a minute later, the Wolves got their feet moving and scored on an odd man rush when Kocha Delic potted his ninth goal of the season to cut Peterborough’s lead in half to 2-1 to end the first period.

The opening frame proved to be a penalty-filled affair, too. Three  Wolves players and one Peterborough player were sent to the sin bin in the first alone.

Despite the score, Sudbury outshot Peterborough in the opener, 11-7.

The marker to come in the middle stanza would come off the stick of Jonathan Melee, who notched his 11th goal of the season, with assists from Braydon McCallum and Konnor Smith, at 6:23 to make the score 3-1 for Peterborough.

With 11 seconds remaining in the second period, Braydon McCallum for Peterborough received a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct for checking to the head.

Kieron Walton would score for the Wolves just 2:22 into the third period to pull Sudbury within a goal, making the game 3-2 for the Petes.

A little over two minutes later, Owen Beck would restore Peterborough’s two-goal lead with his 13th of the season, making the score 4-2 for the Petes.

The game was quiet throughout the next several minutes on the goal front until Quentin Musty scored his 11th of the season for the Wolves to make the score 4-3 for Peterborough at the 13:25 mark of the third period.

Konnor Smith would seal the win for the Petes on an empty net with nine seconds remaining in the game to hand the Wolves a 5-3 loss.

After the loss, the Wolves now hold a record of 11 wins, 10 losses, and 1 overtime loss on the season. The Pack sits third in the Central Division and 12th overall in the Ontario Hockey League.

The Sudbury Wolves next hit the ice on Dec. 1 against division rivals the Barrie Colts at Sudbury Arena with a scheduled start time of 7:05 p.m.
