The Laurentian University swim teams are back
in the pool this weekend as they face their tough rival, the
University of Waterloo.
The teams are coming off an impressive
showing last weekend against Brock university and McMaster
University.
The competitors hit the pool at 10 am on
Sunday, Oct. 31 at the Waterloo pool.
The team has its sights set on victory, but
it will not be easy.
Â"We're looking to improve on our race
execution from last weekend,Â" said head coach Phil Parker in a
press release. Â"With the 2004 Divisional Championships drawing
close, the team must stay focused and practice hard. Racing
tired isn't an easy task for these guys, so the team must
start to come together for support. These next two competitions
will be their final chance at solid execution.
For the men, veterans Marshall Bonner and
Colin Jenkins have been red hot lately. They won nine out of 10
races last weekend against Brock and McMaster.
Bonner qualified for the Canadian
Interuniversity Sport (CIS) Swim Championships with his
performances in the 50-metre backstroke and 100-metre
backstroke.
For the women, rookies Dominique Lafleur and
Amanada Burchert, along with veterans Stephanie Kuhn and Elisha
James will be looking to improve on solid performances from
last weekend.
