Western Conference opponents making lone stop in Sudbury this weekend

Firebirds and Spitfires visit the Wolves Friday and Saturday

The Sudbury Wolves will host the Flint Firebirds Friday night and Windsor Spitfires Saturday in the their final home games before the Christmas break. Puck drop for both Friday and Saturday is 7 p.m.

On Friday, Flint will make their one and only trip to the Sudbury Arena this year. Flint sits fourth in the West Division standings and eighth in the Western Conference. 

The Firebirds are led up front by centreman Ryan Moore who leads the Firebirds with 40 points in 28 games. On defence, they are led by Mathieu Henderson who has racked up 32 points in 28 games.

Friday’s game is sponsored by The Home Depot who will be on hand with The Home Depot toques for lucky fans.

Don’t miss The Home Depot Drill Off competition in the second intermission. The Wolves will welcome alumni to Friday’s game to help celebrate the 45th anniversary season. 

Many of the alumni on hand will have played in the Dec. 8 charity game featuring the Montreal Canadiens Alumni and the Sudbury Wolves Alumni. 

Fans will have access to Wolves Alumni in both the Club Lounge Molson House behind section 14 as well as the season ticket holder intermission lounge behind Section 6 throughout the intermissions.

The Wolves will take to the ice on Saturday again when they welcome another Western Conference opponent, the Windsor Spitfires, to Sudbury. The Spitfires are second in the West Division and fourth in the Western Conference. 

At forward, the Spitfires are led by Chicago Blackhawks prospect Graham Knott and Ottawa Senators first round prospect Logan Brown.

On Saturday, the Wolves will host their annual Teddy Bear Toss in support of the TD Toy Bank. Fans are invited to toss a stuffed toy on the ice when the Wolves score their first goal of the game.

These two Western Conference teams make their only appearance of the season in Sudbury so come join the fun in a new era of Wolves hockey.
