Sudbury Wolves forward Quentin Musty picked up two goals and an assist in the team's 5-2 win over the Soo Greyhounds. It was the final regular season game for both teams.

The Sudbury Wolves finished off the 2022-2023 regular season with a win on the road, finishing off the Soo Greyhounds by a score of 5-2 GFL Memorial Gardens.

Thus the Hounds season ends and the Wolves post-season begins.

The Wolves post-season sees them taking on the Peterborough Petes in the first round. That series kicks off March 30 in Peterborough.

But back to Sunday’s final regular season game.

The Sault out-shot the Wolves 30-24 and beat them on faceoffs, too, going 34 to the Pack’s 29. In terms of power plays, the Wolves went three-for-10 to the Hounds’ one-for-five.

Sudbury opened the scoring at 6:45 of the first after Matthew Mania and Kocha Delic teamed up to feed Nathan Villeneuve, who scored his 12th of the season to make it 1-0 Wolves.

At 13:46 of the first, the Wolves would make it 2-0 after Landon McCallum scored his 17th of the year on the power play (assisted by Nicholas Yearwood and Evan Konyen).

The Hounds would manage to tie it up in the second period. At 8:11, Kalvyn Watson scored his 35th of the season (assisted by Brenden Sirizzotti and Jordan D’Intino) to make it 2-1. Then at 9:37, Kirill Kudryavtsev scored unassisted to make it 2-2.

Sudbury wasn’t done yet though. At 9:56 of the second, just nine seconds later, they would retake the lead thanks to Quentin Musty scoring his 25th of the season (assisted by David Goyette and Delic) to make it 3-2 Wolves

At 12:22 of the second, the Pack would add an insurance goal after Yearwood scored on the power play (his third of the season), assisted by Goyette and Musty.

Up 4-2, Sudbury would make it 5-2 at 8:19 of the third after Musty scored again (his 26th of the season), assisted by Goyette and Mania.

The Pack finished the 2022-2023 regular season in fifth play with 71 points. They’re ranked 13th overall in the OHL.

All that is behind them now as the post-season begins this week. The Wolves playoff schedule is below.
