Coming off a big win against North Bay on Friday, the Sudbury Wolves couldn't land a win in their Sunday afternoon matchup against the Mississauga Steelheads.

The Sunday afternoon game at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre saw the Pack faceoff against the Central Division leaders. The Steelheads took an early lead and held onto it as the Wolves fell 5-3 with final shots on net 37-28 in favour of Mississauga.

Ryan McLeod gave the Steelheads the upper hand early in the first period, netting his fourth goal of the season. But Quinton Byfield stole the puck near the Mississauga net and set up Owen Gilhula for the slapshot goal that tied the game 1-1.

The Pack says a couple of lucky bounces in the second period handed the Steelheads two power play goals to give Mississauga a 3-1 lead. It could've been 4-1 if not for Wolves netminder Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, who stymied the Steelheads in a late-period breakaway.

It was an entertaining final period with goals from Liam Ross, Shane Bulitka, and Owen Tippett with two. Mississauga's Owen Tippett extended the Steelheads lead by one goal three minutes into the third with another power play goal to put the Steelheads up by three goals.

The Wolves mounted a comeback with goals from Liam Ross and Shane Bulitka to cut the Steelheads lead to just one goal. With the score sitting at 4-3, Tippett picked up his second of the night to secure a 5-3 win for Mississauga.

The Wolves will return to action on Wednesday night when they travel to Sault Ste. Marie to face off against the Greyhounds. Fans can follow the Wolves on the road in a number of different ways this season. Fans can listen to the live play-by-play on the radio at 96.7 CKLU or mxlr.com/sudburywolves on the Sudbury Wolves App. In addition to listening to the game, fans can tune into Eastlink TV Channel 10 or 610 to watch the broadcast.
