The Sudbury Wolves managed to keep a firm grip on their fourth spot in the Eastern Conference earning a win, tie and loss in another busy weekend.

On Friday night, the Wolves hosted their fierce rival, the Barrie Colts. Only one point separated the two clubs before the game, yet they battled to a 2-2 draw in front of 4,330 fans at the Sudbury Arena.

Ryan McDonough and Ben Pouliot scored for the Wolves. Pouliot's goal early in the third period salvaged a point for the Wolves.

Back up goalie Kevin Beech got his second straight start between the pipes for the Wolves, and despite some shaky play, he made 25 saves overall to help the Wolves gain a point.

Hunter Tremblay and B.J. Crombeen replied for the Colts.

On Saturday, the Wolves hit the road for another divisional contest, against the second place Mississauga IceDogs.

The Wolves were hammered 6-1.

Patrick Ehelechner got the start, but was chased from the net after allowing four goals on 21 shots.

Beech came in to stop the bleeding, but allowed two more goals on 11 shots.

Cody Bass lead the way for the IceDogs by scoring two goals. Kyle Quincey, Dustin Jeffery, Anthony Butera and Tom Zanoski also scored for the IceDogs.

Pouliot scored for the Wolves. Defenceman Troy Murray picked up an assist on Pouliot's goal, getting his first point in a Wolves' uniform.

Murray was called up recently from Bowmanville of the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League.

Mississauga's goalie Michael Ouzas continued his fine play against the Wolves this season, by thwarting 23 of 24 shots fired his way.

On Sunday, the Wolves found their redemption by blasting the lowly Oshawa Generals, in Oshawa, 5-0.

Once again Beech got the start, and was spectacular, turning away all 26 shots he faced.

Kevin Baker notched two goals in the easy victory. They were the first two goals by Baker in a Wolves' uniform. Baker was acquired by Sudbury at the OHL trading deadline in exchange for sophomore defenceman Kyle Lamb.

Rafal Martynowski, Pouliot, and Nick Foligno also had goals for the Wolves.

With the road victory, the Wolves now sport a record of 8-15-0-2 away from the Sudbury Arena, which is all ready one more win than they had all of last season on the road.

The Wolves are back in action this weekend for two home games.

On Friday, the Wolves host the IceDogs. Game time is 7:30 pm.

On Sunday, the Wolves host the Belleville Bulls for an afternoon contest. Game time is 2 pm.
