The Sudbury Wolves cooled off the hottest team in the OHL on Wednesday night as they downed the Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds 4-3 at the Essar Centre.

The Greyhounds entered Wednesday night's contest having won nine of their last 10 games, with their only loss coming at the hands of the league-leading Erie Otters.

Sudbury was down 1-0 after 10 minutes when Tim Gettinger beat Zack Bowman for his 13th goal of the season. Undeterred, the Wolves stormed back with three goals of their own as Macauley Carson, Dmitry Sokolov, and David Levin all found the back of the net to give the Wolves a 3-1 lead heading into the first intermission.

The Wolves would hear from Gettinger again however, as the 6-6, 220-pound forward potted his second goal of the night and 14th of the season, while the Wolves were on the power play.

Over-ager Bobby MacIntyre continued his strong season as he brought the Greyhounds back level 30 seconds later with yet another shorthanded marker for the home side.

The teams skated to the locker rooms tied up at 3-3 after 40 minutes of play and that's where it would remain at the end of regulation.

Dmitry Sokolov got the Wolves the bonus point early into the extra frame as he tallied his second of the night and 21st on the season just 19 seconds into OT.

With the win the Wolves snap a two-game losing skid and move to 14-16-2 on the season and are just two points back of the North Bay Battalion for the Central Division lead.

The Wolves will be on the road until Dec. 30 when they return to the Sudbury Arena to take on the Guelph Storm.

Sudbury will play road games against the Kitchener Rangers, Oshawa Generals before the Christmas break, and will take on the North Bay Battalion in North Bay on Dec. 29.
