After coming off a 5-2 loss from the Belleville Bulls Saturday night, the Wolves were looking to salvage much needed points and maintain a playoff position as they faced the Ottawa 67's on Sunday afternoon.

The Wolves were unable to contain the speedy 67s and lost the game by a final score of 6- 2.

The 67's came out blazing right away in the opening frame and took the early 2-0 lead after firing 21 shots on Wolves goaltender Aain Valiquette. Scoring for the 67's were Thomas Kiriakou, which was a power play goal, and Logan Couture.

The Wolves cut the lead in half within the first minutes of the second period with a power play goal by John Kurtz, who was assisted by Jared Staal and Sergei Sheleg.

The Wolves began to apply some pressure, but the 67's scored two more goals within 30 seconds of each near the end of the frame with markers by Thomas Nesbitt and Anthony Nigro. The 67's had a 4-lead heading into the second intermission.

The 67's quickly made it 5-1 on a second goal by Couture at the 0:26 mark of the third period. The Wolves responded just over a minute later with a goal by Staal, with assists from Kurtz and Akim Aliu.

The 67's added a goal a few minutes later by Tyler Toffoli and that's as close as it would get, as the Wolves lost the final contest of the weekend by a final score of 6-2.

Valiquette made 50 saves for the loss, while the 67's netminder Adam Courchaine made 29 saves in a winning effort.

The Wolves will return to action on Friday, March 13 at the Sudbury Arena as they host the Belleville Bulls for their final regular season home game. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
