The Sudbury Wolves (14-10-0-1) are readying
themselves for a busy weekend as they play three games in three
nights.
The Wolves begin the weekend at home Friday
against the Brampton Battalion who are coming off a 4-3 win
over the Oshawa Generals last night. The Battalion (14-12-0-0)
sit one point behind the Wolves in the standings and will want
to come out strong in order to reclaim sole possession of third
place in the Central Division. Howie Martin (8 goals, 28
points) and Luke Lynes (17 goals, 28 points) lead the way
offensively for the Battalion.
On Saturday the Wolves travel to Belleville
to play the Bulls (11-13-2-0), tired after playing four games
in the last six days and winning twice. If they're going to
advance in the standings, Belleville will need to muster more
scoring opportunities. With 78 goals so far this season, third
lowest number in the league, the Bulls will have to rely on a
strong defensive effort. Belleville's number one goalie
Kevin Lalande has posted a 3.32 goals against average and a
.904 save percentage in 23 games this season.
The Wolves will round out their weekend
Sunday when they visit John Tavares and the underachieving
Oshawa Generals (5-20-1-0). With 95 goals this year, the
Generals are above-average up front. However, their 143 goals
against stat is the worst in the league by a fairly wide
margin. Rookie Tavares has posted excellent first year numbers
(17 goals, 27 points) and is second in rookie scoring behind
Sergei Kostitsyn of the London Knights.
Game time for Brampton and Sudbury is 7:30 pm
tonight at the Sudbury Arena. Catch all the road action
Saturday and Sunday on 790 CIGM with Stu Kernan in the
broadcast booth.
