Sudbury Wolves forward Nathan Villeneuve got the scoring started against the Brantford Bulldogs on Feb. 2, scoring 13th goal of the season. The Wolves would go on to lose the game 5-3.

Things didn’t go according to plan on Friday night when the Sudbury Wolves paid a visit to the Brantford Bulldogs

Jakub Vondras got the nod in goal for the Wolves while Matteo Drobac was the starting goaltender for the home team, the Brantford Bulldogs.

Nathan Villeneuve got the score started just 2:29 into the first period for the Wolves to give Sudbury an early 1-0 lead with his 13th goal of the season.

There was very little in the way of action until Evan Konyen scored his 20th goal of the season, to put Sudbury ahead 2-0, and this is where the game stood heading into the first intermission.

Things went downhill for the Wolves from here on out.

At 6:24 of the second period, Jake O’Brien scored his eighth goal of the season, putting the Bulldogs on the board and cutting into Sudbury’s lead, making the score 2-1.

Less than a minute later, the Bulldogs tied the game 2-2 with a goal from Lawson Sherk, his sixth of the season.

With 10:46 remaining in the middle frame, Brantford would take the lead with a goal from Patrick Thomas, his 10th of the season, putting the Bulldogs ahead of the Wolves by a score of 3-2 with one period left to play.

Just 21 seconds into the final period, Lawson Sherk scored his second goal of the contest to increase the lead to 4-2 for the Brantford Bulldogs.

All was quiet on the scoring front until the Bulldogs scored again at the 14:48 mark of the third period with Florian Xhekaj, his 18th goal of the season, to make the score 5-2 for the Bulldogs.

Dalibor Dvorsky scored his 26th goal of the season for the Wolves with 1:30 remaining in the game.

That was as close as the Wolves would get on this night, as the Bulldogs came away with the win by a score of 5-3.

After the loss, the Sudbury Wolves now hold a record of 26 wins, 15 regulation losses, three overtime losses, and two shootout losses on the season, which is good for second place in the Central Division, second place in the Eastern Conference, and fourth place in the Ontario Hockey League

The Wolves take the ice next on Feb. 4 at Sudbury Arena against the Mississauga Steelheads, with a scheduled start time of 2:05 p.m.
