Wolves Hockey action continues this Friday night for the final home game before the Christmas break when the Wolves host the Kitchener Rangers for the annual Teddy Bear Toss at 7:05 p.m.

The Wolves are currently riding an 11-game winning streak at home and six-game winning streak overall as they defeated the Barrie Colts and Guelph Storm on home ice this past weekend.

The Kitchener Rangers currently sit eighth in the Western Conference with 28 points in 30 games. They are led up front by 19-year-old Greg Meirele who has 35 points in 30 games. Import forward Rickard Hugg sits just behind Mierele in the Rangers scoring leaderboard with 33 points in 29 games.

Friday will be fan’s last chance to see Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen before he suits up for Team Finland to take on Team Canada and the rest of the World Juniors in Victoria later this month. Luukkonen is expected to rejoin the Wolves following the World Junior Championships in the new year.

“We don’t take anything for granted, we come to rink and work,” said veteran forward David Levin, whose leadership has helped drive the recent Wolves success up front. “We have confidence now in ourselves, believe in our teammates and trust in the coaches’ plan. The rest should take care of itself.”

Friday’s game is sponsored by Subway who will be on-hand with prizes and giveaways for lucky fans. The first 1,000 fans will receive Subway coupons. Friday’s game also marks the annual Teddy Bear Toss.

Fans are encouraged to toss a stuffed animal on the ice when the Wolves score their first goal of the game. The toys will be donated to the local TD Toy Bank and proceeds to the Salvation Army.

Great seats are going fast at the Sudbury Arena Box Office and online at greatersudbury.ca/tickets or sudburywolves.com.

Prior to Friday’s game, the Wolves will visit the Barrie Colts Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. They will then hit the road to close out the first half of the season with a stop in Mississauga on Sunday to take on the Steelheads at 2:05 p.m.

Fans can tune into the live play-by-play on CKLU 96.7 or mixlr.com/sudburywolves
