Think you have the perfect name for Sudbury's new pro basketball team? The team wants to hear from you (File)

If Sudbury had a basketball team, what would you name it?

That's what SW Sport and Entertainment (SWSE), the parent company of the Sudbury Wolves, wants to know, and they've kicked off a team naming contest to do just that.

The contest runs until June 6 at 5 p.m., on the still nameless National Basketball League of Canada basketball team's temporary Facebook page

To enter, Like the page, share and comment with your name suggestion on the original post. A panel of experts will then choose the winning name from among the entries.

Those judges will also pick one lucky fan to win a special prize pack that includes: two season tickets on the floor for the inaugural season; a merchandise package; and a personalized team jersey.

For full rules and to enter, please visit the team Facebook page.

The team says submissions so far have ranged from mining themed (such as the Sudbury Stacks or Sudbury Blasters) to nature, like the Sudbury Lakers or Northern Thunder. Others play off the "Wolves" theme with suggestions such as Sudbury Wolverines or Sudbury DireWolves.

For more information you can visit 705basketball.com or the 705 Basketball Facebook page.

Refundable season tickets are also being sold for the team. Contact SWSE at (705) 675-3941 for more information.
