Be The Ball is Sudbury’s newest indoor golf simulator and patio destination. However, it’s not just another food and entertainment venue. It is operated by a family that has deep roots in the community, and the business itself is located in a truly iconic space.
Co-owner and operator Patty Desjardins explains, “Where Be the Ball is located used to be a dance hall. My parents danced there as teenagers when it was known as the Crystal Palace. They bought the establishment as adults. For my mom, it also became a catering venue where she provided exceptional food for clients during seasonal holidays, weddings, and other events.”
Desjardins' parents would go on to purchase the Townehouse Tavern, where, as a family, they converted it to Sudbury's main music venue with live original/alternative music being played seven days a week. She and her brother Bernie later opened The Laughing Buddha. Desjardins is pleased with how she, her parents, and her brothers had a strong hand in revitalizing the area by purchasing, opening, cleaning up, and running several successful businesses on the block.
“With Be The Ball, we have come full circle,” she says. “It is located in the old dance hall that started it all.”
Be The Ball, located in (former) Alder Hall, features 20-foot wide HD golf simulators. In addition to golf, a variety of other games can be played. The games are suitable for new and experienced golfers.
The space also offers a full service bar and kitchen. The setting is perfect for individuals or group reservations, as well as private events. It is the perfect location for staff socials, showers, stags, small weddings, or any private event for 40 people or less.
On nice days be sure to enjoy Josie’s Patio, named after Desjardins' mother who loved nothing better than seeing people enjoying the results of her cooking.
This laid back area has a pergola, grapevines, and a wood fire pizza oven. Expect a serene and relaxing atmosphere with great food as well as a nice selection of wine, cocktails, and beers.
