There is plenty to see, do and shop in Downtown Sudbury this holiday season

The holiday season is in full swing and the shops and services in Downtown Sudbury are here to make this season extra special. Why wait on unreliable shipping and online orders when you can make a day out of shopping in the core?

The perfect, most unique gifts are downtown in a friendly, walkable area. So, whether you are shopping solo and taking the time for a self-care coffee break or shopping with friends after brunch, you are sure to have a good time.

Get into the holiday spirit with these ideas and events for December:

  • The Best Gifts under the Tree and the Keep Your Receipts run on December 3, 10 and 17. Simply fill out ballots at participating stores to be entered into draws for exciting prizes. Keep receipts (totalling $75+ before tax) from purchases downtown and bring them to the office (115 Larch Street) to receive a gift.

  • Brunch and Browse: Call your friends and arrange to meet for brunch at one of the many eateries downtown. From there it’s an afternoon of browsing the shops, visiting your old favourites and seeing what’s new downtown. It’s a great way to catch up with friends during the busy holiday season while checking items off that gift list.

  • Giving Back Spree: Many Downtown Sudbury Business Association (DSBIA) are engaged in charitable work. By supporting these shops and/or donating to the causes they support, you help create a better city and uplift deserving citizens. Spend an afternoon looking into the causes our Association members support and make a difference by donating or volunteering.

  • Stroll the Street & Instagram It! Few things get you in the holiday mood faster than a stroll down a beautifully lit and decorated street. With over 20 businesses participating in the creation of amazing photo ops and Instagramable moments, the holiday décor is almost as amazing as the special sales you'll find.
Take pics, use #MerryInSudbury, tag the specific shop(s) you like and post your photos to win a $500 shopping spree and help that business win $250 themselves! Sip on a hot chocolate from one of the many coffee shops and enjoy the holiday music as you pop in and out of stores to warm up (and to browse the holiday specials). Both free and paid parking lots make it easy to find a convenient spot to leave your vehicle, but remember parking is free after 6 p.m. on weekdays and all weekend long.

The holiday season can be busy and stressful, but it is also a time for fun with family and friends. Downtown Sudbury has plenty of ways to relax and engage while taking care of holiday chores.
