Every month, Ashley HomeStore North on Barrydowne Road in Sudbury gives back to the community.

This December, they are throwing their support behind the Banque d’aliments Sudbury Food Bank.

Both the staff and the store’s customers can contribute to this mission, which benefits several local communities. Each Ashley HomeStore location in Northern Ontario, of which there are three—Sudbury, North Bay and Espanola—hold local food drives and all three of these communities benefit.

How does it work? During the month of December, bring a non-perishable food item or make a $10 donation and you will save the taxes on already discounted sale prices throughout the store. Ashley is also donating a portion of VIP subscriptions as well as a percentage of all sales for the entire month.

People are happy to support the food bank, which they believe is important.

As a result of last year’s campaign—their first time running it—the company was able to donate $14,000 to the food bank. Staff are looking forward to repeating (and surpassing!) their fundraising success again this year, and for many years to come.

Thankfully, many community partners and community businesses in Northern Ontario seem to understand hunger; they understand the need to help and are in a position to do so. This regional approach also helps to ensure that more communities receive support.

The Banque d’aliments Sudbury Food Bank oversees more than 40 charitable food organizations in Greater Sudbury. Their mission is to feed people in need and in distress, lessening their distress. They are dedicated to the alleviation of hunger for those living in the region of the City of Greater Sudbury, ensuring that everyone has enough to eat.

Ashley HomeStore North is proud to raise funds for such a worthy organization and to provide an easy way for the community to get involved and show their support too. Every dollar raised helps to fight hunger and feed hope.

“We’re honored to launch our 2nd annual December Food Drive Campaign and give back to the community that has supported us throughout the years,” says store manager Grant Carriere. “Please join us in making a meaningful impact by continuing to support those in need this holiday season.”
