Realtors know that a healthy community makes a great place to live. That’s why the Sudbury Real Estate Board (SREB) not only supports their professional Realtor members, but also the community as a whole.

Recently, they have stepped up to support two important initiatives in the area: Realtors Care Foundation and bursaries for local university students.

Ontario Realtors Care Foundation

The SREB is a vital group that not only serves as a vibrant professional organization supporting local Realtors, but it also works to improve the lives of individuals living in the community. One way that their members work together is by raising money for the Realtors Care Foundation.

“The Sudbury Real Estate Board unifies over 450 Realtors in Greater Sudbury and surrounding areas, including Manitoulin Island, Nipissing, Espanola and more. Every Realtor member contributes to the Realtors Care Foundation every month, which provides funding to shelter-based charities in our area,” says Adam Haight, Chair of the Sudbury Real Estate Board. “The SREB also holds additional fundraising events throughout the year.”

This summer, the SREB hosted their first annual charity golf tournament at Timberwolf Golf Club. The group raised $5000 in support of Realtors Care Foundation and local shelter-related causes.

Adam explains, “This was our first ever Charity Golf Tournament where we raised $5000 for Ontario Realtors Care Foundation. All money raised will go directly back to shelter-based charities in Greater Sudbury and Surrounding areas. Our total Realtors Care Contributions for 2023 are over $13,000.”

Student Bursaries for Local Youth

Another way in which the SREB contributes to the wellbeing of the community is through bursaries for local post-secondary students. Children and grandchildren of members of the SREB can apply for these awards, which are presented once a year.

“We prioritize education for our members, and therefore, we strongly support youth as they enter post-secondary education,” Adam says.

This year, the three bursary recipients are Mackenzie Campeau, who will be attending Laurentian University for Behavioural Neuroscience; Elijah Alkhoury, who will also be attending Laurentian University but with a major in architecture; and Jacqueline Vanden Berg, who will be travelling west to study humanities at the University of Victoria.

Supporting Realtors and the Community

The SREB is a professional organization that represents over 450 Realtors in Greater Sudbury and surrounding areas.

“Our vision is that the SREB is seen as a trusted industry leader, striving to advance the real estate profession and communities alike,” says Adam. “Our mission is to empower Realtors to excel and uphold high standards by providing them with technology and opportunities for learning and development as well as advocating on their behalf.”
