For the second consecutive year, Sudbury's culinary scene shone brightly as the Taste of Sudbury Food and Drink Festival. With over 300 attendees, the sold-out event highlighted local vendors while raising money for a great cause.

Jana Schilkie, who organized the event through Jana Hospitality Consulting and Greater Sudbury Hospitality Association (GSHA), said nearly 40 local food and drink vendors participated in the annual event.

"With great local vendors, a sold-out crowd, and money raised for a great charity, it was a win-win all around," Schilkie says.

The January 18th event raised $15,974.89 for Inner-City Homes, a non-profit organization offering emergency food bank services, life skills programming and other resources to Sudburians in need.

The charity relies on the work of volunteers and fundraising, making the Taste of Sudbury an important event for Inner-City Home, which provides emergency food back services to approximately 1,200 households a month throughout Greater Sudbury.

"I think the highlight of the event is the amount of exposure and awareness generated for both the charity and local vendors," Joe Drago, president Inner City Home says. "It is awesome to see the amount of people take note of the Inner-City Home operation as well as what each participating food and drink vendor is all about".

From the time of the planning committee to the local vendors showcasing their products, Schilkie and Drago thank all who helped make the event happen.

"In addition, obviously the community support is needed to purchase the tickets and attend the event, which they have now done for two consecutive years," she says.

Schilkie adds that the third annual Taste of Sudbury Food and Drink Festival will be January 16th 2025 at the Caruso Club (Upper Hall).
