4 facing drug-related charges after Highway 144 traffic stop

Four people are facing charges after a traffic stop west of Timmins. 

On Feb. 7 just after 10 p.m., South Porcupine OPP says that an officer pulled over a vehicle on Highway 144 at the intersection of Highway 101 west of Timmins. 

Police have released few details about the incident and say the investigation is ongoing. 

A police investigation closed Highway 144 late last night, with the road reopening this morning, according to 511. The closure was near Kenogamissi Lake Road (the Cache). Police have not confirmed if the two incidents are related.

Four people are facing charges following the traffic stop. 

A 28-year-old from Scarborough and a 35-year-old from Kitchener are charged with possession of a Schedule I substance - other drugs. A 22-year-old from Timmins is charged with possession of a Schedule I substance - other drugs, and failing to comply with a release order. A 27-year-old from Toronto is charged with possession of a Schedule I substance - other charges, and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.

All of the accused were held in police custody waiting for a bail hearing. 

None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused are considered innocent unless proven guilty.
