This couple may want to find some new friends.

Police say shortly after 2 a.m. yesterday, a couple was visiting with friends at a home on the 300 block of Second Avenue East in North Bay.

While being introduced to the couple, police say that man #1 punched a male victim and a fight took place between the two, breaking a window and railing in the process.

The attacker grabbed a knife and stabbed the victim in the shoulder, stomach, and head.

The female visitor jumped on the attacker to stop him and was struck by him with a broken wooden spindle on her head and back.  Police say he then held a knife to her throat and brought her to a room where he threatened to kill her and prevented her from leaving.

Despite his injuries, the male victim was able to flee to safety.

However, a second man stayed with the female victim, threatened to hurt her, and prevented her from leaving while the attacker searched for the man he had just stabbed.

The North Bay Police were called and the male victim was found and taken to hospital.
