OPP conducting 'sudden death' investigation in Massey

SABLES-SPANISH – The Ontario Provincial Police say emergency services crews responded to a medical call Feb. 6 and located one person deceased.

Shortly after 9 a.m., members of the Manitoulin Detachment of OPP, Manitoulin-Sudbury Paramedic Services and Sables-Spanish River Fire Department responded to a medical call on First Street, Sables-Spanish.

One person, age 26 from Massey, was located deceased in the residence, police said in a news release.

An investigation is being carried out by the Manitoulin Crime Unit under the direction of the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

A post mortem examination is scheduled at a later date in Sudbury.

There is no threat to public safety, police said.
